I moved to Bend in 2015 from Asheville, NC to be closer to family. While it was hard to leave my home of 17 years, I am very excited about this new chapter. I am a proud mom of an almost teenager, and I know first-hand the challenges of creating a balanced life post-parenthood.
I come from a family of educators, and I served as a teacher and administrator in schools for nearly a decade before following my path to the field of counseling. I continue to work with adolescents in coaching and counseling capacities, but my primary focus is on working with adults - individuals and couples - on issues including anxiety and managing life and family transitions. My own journey has taken me from Harvard University, where I earned a Masters in Education in 1998, to Western Carolina University where I graduated with my Masters in Counseling in 2007. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and worked in a community agency setting before launching my private practice in 2010. I also served as the Clinic Director at the OSU-Cascade training clinic from 2015-2020, supervising and training Masters of Counseling students. My Approach I see myself as your partner on this journey. While my practice is grounded in Compassion-focused Therapy, I do not believe that therapy is "one-size fits all". The work we do will depend very much on where you are, what you need, and what works for you. The key element to any work we do, however, is the creation of a safe space that is free from judgement, one in which you are supported, respected, empowered, and accepted as you are, for it is only when you feel safe to share your truth that real change can happen. Specific Issues Addressed I work with individuals and couples on a variety of issues including:
I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions, want information about rates or insurance, want to learn more about counseling in general or working with me specifically, or want to set up a time to meet. I look forward to working with you! ~Erika |
